At Intelife, we believe that meaningful employment changes lives, so we’re very proud to share a story that proves just that. Michael has officially joined the team at Geographe Holiday Homes in Busselton, marking a significant milestone in his career and personal journey.
Michael’s journey began with a work trial designed to showcase his skills and build confidence in a real-world setting. From the very first day, his enthusiasm was evident – he approached every task with energy and a smile that never faded. It didn’t take long for the team at Geographe Holiday Homes to notice. His dedication and willingness to learn quickly stood out, leading them to offer him an ongoing casual position. This achievement is so much more than just a job; it’s a testament to Michael’s resilience and the power of customised and inclusive employment practices.
Michael brings both knowledge and practical experience, including a Certificate III in Horticulture, to his new role. His work is diverse and hands-on, and every task he takes on reflects his commitment to doing things well. From tending gardens and maintaining grounds to ensuring fresh linen is ready for guests and assisting with seasonal upkeep, Michael has become an integral part of the team. His regular shifts have already expanded to include additional opportunities, a clear sign of the trust and value he brings to the workplace.

The feedback from Geographe Holiday Homes has been overwhelmingly positive. Owners describe Michael as someone who “doesn’t stop smiling,” and that joy is contagious. With every task completed, his confidence grows. His horticultural skills are shining through in the gardens he cares for, and his positive attitude has made him a beloved member of the team. It’s not just about the work—it’s about the relationships he’s building and the pride he feels in contributing.
This success story is part of Intelife’s pilot program, aimed at connecting people with disability to meaningful employment opportunities. This pilot, based out of our Busselton Hub, is a direct result of a grant received by Intelife from the Cook Government in 2024 aimed at supporting participants in developing a strong set of work readiness skills. It is exciting to be seeing such positive outcomes as a result of not only this support but the hard work and dedication of our Busselton team, by partnering with businesses like Geographe Holiday Homes, we’re proving that inclusion benefits everyone – employees, employers, and the community.
Employment is more than a paycheck; it’s about purpose, independence, and belonging. Michael’s achievement demonstrates what’s possible when businesses embrace diversity and create pathways for individuals to thrive. It’s a win-win: Geographe Holiday Homes gains a dedicated team member, and Michael gains a role that celebrates his skills and passion.
Michael’s journey is just beginning, and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next. Intelife is proud to be supporting Michael and many others in continuing to break down barriers and build inclusive workplaces across Western Australia.
